The Chicago Heights Police Department is presently comprised of
78 sworn personnel and 28 civilian personnel. The Department consists
of various divisions that include Staff Command, Patrol, Investigations,
Traffic, Community Policing, Special Operations, Training, Records,
Lockup, and Communications.
Police Chief Anthony J. Murphy
Captain
and now Chief Anthony J. Murphy has been a dedicated law enforcement
officer for the City of Chicago Heights for the past 30 years. He
worked his way up through the ranks holding positions of Chief of
Detectives, Director of Field Operations, and Director of Training
prior to being named Police Chief.
Under the command of Chief Murphy there is an increase in police
visibility in all neighborhoods in Chicago Heights; a new spirit
in teamwork within the Department and Chicago Heights families will
be safer as a result.

Deputy Chief Michael Camilli
Captain
and now Deputy Chief Michael Camilli has been with the Chicago Heights
Police Department for 29 years. The Deputy Chief has supervision
and control, subject to the orders of the Chief of Police over all
members of the Department. He is the administrative officer of the
Department. During extended absence of the Chief, the Deputy performs
as the Acting Chief of Police.

Commander Brian Smith
Captain
Brian Smith commands the Training Division. His responsibilities
are to ensure that all sworn personnel receive any training they
require. His expertise in the training field has given him national
recognition. He also trains outside agencies at their request. Captain
Smith holds charge of the Police Department Arsenal and ensures
that each officer qualifies in their shooting abilities. He also
leads the Special Operations Unit, which is deployed when needed
to handle situations that call for special attention during day-to-day
operations by the Department.

Commander Michael Brink
Lt.
Michael Brink has served the Department for the past 25 years and
now commands the Patrol Division, which is comprised of three eight-hour
shifts that answer police calls on a 24-hour basis. Lt. Brink also
oversees the Lockup Division manned by four civilian officers and
one patrol officer who supervises the civilians.

Commander John P Murphy, Sr.
Captain
John Murphy is the Commander of Staff Services. His responsibilities
include fiscal planning, purchasing, and preparation of the annual
budget. Captain Murphy also commands over the remaining civilian personnel
who are in the Record and Communications Divisions.
